Aspirations & Goals | 2016

3.1.16

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, 'New Year New Me', is a load of bollocks. A new year to me is a chance to better myself, but not to change. I'm not going to make a list of unattainable, ridiculous goals, I'd like to talk instead about a few of my achievable aspirations for 2016 revolving around general life, self and blogging.

1. Save.

Now this one is pretty self explanatory, but every month I want to put away some money into savings to use for something important in the future. I've actually always been pretty great at saving money if I do say so myself, I've actually just saved enough to by myself a Macbook and I've never felt more chuffed for achieving something I set out to do. I want to continue on this positive path and hopefully by the end of 2016, I'll have a nice stash of cash to invest in something brill.

2. Take care of myself.

Since I started college I've pretty much let myself go on the eating and exercise front, fast food is so much more accessible and I literally have no self control when it comes to McDonalds chicken nuggets. This year I want to make a conscious effort to eat cleaner and to introduce more exercise into my routine. Pack in the fatty foods and up the anti when it comes to looking after my body. I've always found gyms extremely intimidating, but if I manage to do exercise in the home and actually stick to it, I'll hopefully feel much healthier and happier.

3. YouTube.

Since I dedicated my Instagram to makeup artistry about three years ago, I'm constantly bombarded with requests to create youtube tutorials, but, I'm a perfectionist, and I always wanted my video and overall channel quality to be of a high standard and be credible, to be perfect. But, this summer I'm setting myself the goal of uploading my first video, and becoming a dedicated creator.

4. Improve my blog and blog photography.

Photography and art has always been a passion of mine and after getting into blogging in November, I've become even more motivated to improve my skills in the field. I love taking photos and I want to really find my photography 'niche' and discover and explore an aesthetic for my blog. I also would love to reach 1,000 Bloglovin' followers by the end of the year, I have a long way to go but it would be incredible.

5. Stop giving a shit.

This is probably the hardest of all. It's extremely difficult to disregard comments you may hear about yourself, especially if you aren't the most confident of people. This past year I've learned to be so much more accepting of myself, but I still have a long way to go. I hope that in this coming year I can gain said confidence to ignore the 'haters' and simply, do me without worrying about other people's opinions.

6. See People More

Events of the past few weeks have made me realise the importance of family and friends and I feel that now more than ever, I want to do everything I can to see people more. I tend to get wrapped up in my own things and neglect others, however I really am going to attempt to see my faraway family members more, and generally just throw myself into social events more close to home. Life's too short for regretting not doing something, right?

So there you have it, I'm sure the minute this post goes live I'll probably have an explosion of thoughts in my head of more things I want to achieve, but these are at least a few.

What do YOU want to achieve this year?

Love, Isabelle.

  7. Isabelle, I think that these goals are FABULOUS! I’m the same when it comes to trying to set unattainable goals but I think you’ve managed perfectly with setting some achievable ones.

I’m planning on saving this year so I can move out in 2018 (house prices in Sydney are too expensive so this is a long term goal which is going to take awhile!), and work on focusing on my blog writing again!

Keep in touch, so glad I found your blog, its fantastic!

  8. Bravo! I couldn't agree with the whole new year new you ish! Your goals are really achievable so sending you lots of positive thoughts that you do what you set out to do. Oh and in terms of 'not giving a shit' just remember you can't pay bills or live based upon the opinions of others ;)

  9. Hi Isabelle,

I relate to this so much and you know what I've yet to think about future savings!(So bad right?) but your post has inspired me to do so. I think putting money away for the future is so grown woman of you! Its classy and responsible. I'm pretty sure we have too many lipsticks already to be spending money on lol.

Stop giving a shit! Yesss! Let it be a compliment or a negativity we make our own truth.

    Loved this and great post!
