Benefit Cosmetics Event | Leeds!

So I guess long time no speak is the understatement of the year, huh? I don't know what has really happened in the last couple of days but something has really lit a fire up my ass and motivated me to get back into blogging and honestly, I've missed this shit. I've missed taking photos, post-production and writing and damn am I glad to be back.

On Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited by the lovely Ruth at Benefit to attend their #FriendsWithBenefit event in Leeds. Usually blogger events are based down south and it's a logistical nightmare for me to get there, but this time it was as easy as pie to hop on a train and get myself there A S A P ! Not only was I ecstatic at going to an event with Benefit, but I was also able to bring my best friend along for the ride, even if she did definitely just come for the sweets! But seriously, is there any better feeling than being able to do cool shit with your best mate? NAH!

We were greeted with cocktails and open arms, a gorgeous nail station courtesy of NailsInc and of course, a benefit brow bar.
Like any event, there were talks and such organised to take place throughout the evening which were actually so useful and genuinely topped off the evening for me. First, us lucky ladies got to experience a photography masterclass with Jay McLaughlin who has shot for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and more! In partnership with Olympus, we were able to test our newly learned skills on the Olympus Pen E-PL8 which, I think it's safe to say, I now need in my life. All of the photos you see in this post were taken with that camera and, if I do say so myself, aren't they bloody beautiful?!

Afterwards we continued munching on sweets and, admittedly, snaffled a few samples until it was time for the main event, a Q&A with the incredible Em Sheldon of Emtalks who shared many words of wisdom about her experience within the blogging community. Thinking back I think this was my favourite part of the evening, Em was so honest and genuine with her answers and her words of advice were reassuring and encouraging. She spoke of how she too, a big blogger, has struggled with cracking the Instagram algorithm and finding consistency within that area of social media. I think we all get very bogged down with numbers and growth tracking and sometimes forget why we do what we do, and she helped me to remember that - so thanks Em!

I don't really know where these posts end and when to finish writing to be honest with you, but I can genuinely just say I had a bloody cracking time. I loved seeing other bloggers and creatives getting, well, creative! It was refreshing to be surrounded by like-minded individuals and to be treated so well by the crazy fabulous team at Benefit. I only wish I could be sat writing this with a gin and whatever mystery juice they used in their cocktails because damn, that stuff was GOOD.
Thank you so much to Benefit for the invite and for enabling me to have such a great experience.

Love, Isabelle.
